Terms of Service
Effective date: August 12, 2026
1. Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of WhichStitch — the mobile application, and whichstitch.app (together, the “Service”). The Service is offered by Dark Corners LLC (“WhichStitch,” “we,” “us”), operating as Burnout Bureau. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
2. What WhichStitch Is
WhichStitch reads knitting and crochet patterns you upload (as PDFs or photos) and turns them into a row-by-row format you can follow and track progress against. WhichStitch is pre-release / beta software: it may contain bugs, may change without notice, and is provided as described in Section 11 (No Warranty) below.
3. Accounts
You must provide a valid email address and keep your login credentials confidential. You’re responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You can delete your account at any time from Account → Danger zone → Delete account in the app. See our Privacy Policy for what deletion actually removes.
4. Your Content (Patterns You Upload)
You keep your rights. You own or hold a license to the patterns you upload, and uploading them to WhichStitch doesn’t transfer any of that ownership to us. By uploading a pattern, you give WhichStitch a license to process, store, and display that content solely to provide the Service to you. We don’t claim ownership of your pattern files, and we never share your uploaded pattern files with other users. Only upload patterns you’ve purchased or otherwise have the right to use. You can delete individual pattern uploads at any time from within the app.
5. Our Content (Parsed Data & the App Itself)
The structured, row-by-row data our system generates from your uploaded pattern (the “Parsed Output”) is WhichStitch’s work product. You can delete your copy of it at any time. We may use anonymized, aggregated data derived from processing patterns — data that doesn’t identify you and doesn’t reproduce copyrighted pattern content — to improve how WhichStitch works. All intellectual property in the Service itself belongs to Dark Corners LLC. “WhichStitch” and associated logos are our trademarks.
6. Community Content
(This section applies once community features — shared annotations, errata, tips — become part of the Service. As of this version, that feature has not shipped.) Contributions you post will be licensed to WhichStitch, royalty-free, to display and use as part of the Service. We may moderate, edit, or remove community contributions at our discretion. After you delete your account, contributions may remain visible in de-identified form — disclosed clearly at the point you’re asked to contribute, not just here.
7. Feedback
Anything you submit through the in-app feedback tool becomes the sole property of Dark Corners LLC. You’re not owed compensation or credit for feedback that shapes the product.
8. Free Tier & Paid Plans
WhichStitch currently offers a free tier including a limited number of one-time pattern uploads per account. No paid subscription is available yet. When one launches, this section will be updated with specific pricing and billing terms — see Section 16 for the disclosure and cancellation commitments that will govern it. Purchases, when available, will go through Apple’s App Store or Google Play billing.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
Use the Service to process patterns in violation of a third party’s rights.
Attempt to access another user’s data or account.
Probe or scan our backend infrastructure.
Reverse-engineer or decompile the app.
Use the Service for commercial purposes beyond your own personal pattern tracking without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
10. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for violating these Terms, at our discretion — where practical, we’ll try to give notice first. You can export your project notes and personal data at any time — see our Privacy Policy for how. If Dark Corners LLC is acquired, merges, or discontinues the Service, we’ll provide reasonable advance notice (at least 30 days where practical) and a way to export your data before any transfer or shutdown.
11. No Warranty
The Service — especially during this pre-release / beta period — is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. Always verify parsed output against your original pattern before relying on it for a project. We’re not liable for data loss, device issues, or other harm arising from use of pre-release software.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Dark Corners LLC’s total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you’ve paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose (which, for free-tier users, is zero). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. We’ll update the effective date above when we do, and for material changes, we’ll notify you in the app.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
15. App Store / Platform Terms
If you downloaded WhichStitch through the Apple App Store: this agreement is between you and Dark Corners LLC only, not Apple. Dark Corners LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app, its maintenance and support, any product warranties, and addressing any claims relating to the app — including product liability, legal/regulatory conformance, consumer protection, and intellectual property claims. Your license is limited to a non-transferable license to use the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, per the App Store’s Usage Rules. You represent you’re not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or on any U.S. government restricted-party list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
16. Subscriptions (When Available)
WhichStitch does not currently offer a paid subscription. When one launches, before you’re charged we commit to: disclosing the price, billing frequency, and how to cancel in plain language before you agree; requiring your affirmative opt-in (no pre-checked boxes); and providing an in-app way to cancel that’s at least as easy as signing up.
